An Honest July

Here are some recent snaps from the last week or so. July has been so weird for me since my brother passed away, I’ll be going along just fine with no anxiety, and suddenly it’ll creep up on me out of no where. The first year following his passing, I experienced this on the morning of July 5th at the store. I went from trying to pick the freshest blueberries, to having a full-blown panic attack out of no where - to the point where I had to just leave behind everything in my cart and head home.

This July, I’m trying to give myself grace through the struggle and I’m taking time to bake treats, head to the beach, spend time with family and making sure to get out and go on longer walks. I’m also learning to crochet and playing Animal Crossing with friends (and super excited about their collab with Cold Stone Creamery!!).

I’ve been blessed to be able to go to work with Zack several times this week, which helped me so I’m not sitting home alone with my anxious thoughts.

Some things that I’ve learned over the years to help my anxiety when it’s flaring:
• Long walks outside, fresh air really helps
• Having my favorite, easy snacks and foods on hand
• Spending time in the Word and praying
• CBD tinctures, mints and gum on hand for anxiety-induced nausea
• Comfort hobbies to keep my mind busy. Think coloring books, painting, crochet or knitting (prioritize things you can do with your hands)

If you battle anxiety, what are some things that help you handle it?
